About

About DANCECleveland:

DANCECleveland, a Cleveland, Ohio based non-profit, is one of a handful of presenters in the nation that is dedicated solely to the presentation of modern and contemporary dance.  The centerpiece of the organization’s programming is its annual performance series. The performances are surrounded by an array of educational outreach events including artist-run master classes, residency programs, student matinees, pre-performance lectures and post-performance Q&A sessions, designed both to break artistic boundaries and provide community access to the dance aesthetic and dance luminaries that DANCECleveland brings to Northeast Ohio.

About ADF:

Heralded as “One of the nation’s most important institutions” by the New York Times and as “The world’s greatest dance festival” by the New York Post, the American Dance Festival’s sustained record of creative achievement is indivisible from the history of modern dance. Since 1934, ADF has remained committed to serving the needs of dance, dancers, choreographers, and professionals in dance-related fields. Remaining true to the goals of its founding artists, ADF’s programs are developed based on its mission: to encourage and support the creation and presentation of new modern dance work by both established and emerging choreographers, to preserve our modern dance heritage through continued presentation of classic works as well as through archival efforts, to build wider national and international audiences for modern dance, to enhance public understanding and appreciation of the art form and its cultural and historical significance, to provide a sound scientific and aesthetic base for professional education and training of young dancers, and to maintain a forum for integrating and disseminating information on dance education.

Last year...

National Day of Dance

ADF in CLE will celebrate the Day of Dance on July 28th - This year we have planned a  full day of free special events including ‘taking dance to the street’ with a giant ‘mega-barre’ class on E. 14th Street, a dance demonstration by La Danse Cleveland, a "Dancing in the Street" contest complete with novelty trophies, a Student Showcase of amazing student talent on the stage in the Allen Theatre and a Silent Disco Party. Then join us for an evening of boldly striking, fresh and innovative works by audience favorite, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago in the Connor Palace, Playhouse Square.

All ages and abilities are welcome to participate in the free activities thought the day. Join us on E. 14th St. as we close down the street and celebrate dance with these fun-filled activities!
